NP 241C shift pad part numbers

Postby Two-bit on Mon Jul 26, 2010 4:50 pm

I recently went into a 241C transfer case and whilst i was in there replaced the wear pads on the shift forks.
I had a rather difficult time locating these parts and finally found them through a GM dealer. To save someone else some time in the future i thought it would be nice to post these part numbers with description just in case some one else ends up in a similar situation. :D

The shift forks have three wear pads on each one. One on each end of the fork tines and one in the center of the fork base.
Part numbers and description as follows:

High/low shift fork. Cast iron, located on inner shift rod, held in place by a set screw.
end pads part number per GM: 14037966 requires two.
center pad part number per GM: 12337980 requires one.*

2wd/4wd shift fork. Formed steel, located on inner shift rod, operates by rotation from detent shift plate.
end pads part number per GM: 14037966 requires two.
center pad part number per GM: 14070291 requires one.

The end pads are the same for both shift arms.
*= The pad in this position will likely be blue in color. Both of the cases i was in had the originals in blue and the replacement pad was also blue. The other pads were white/clear in color.

Total on parts was less than $20.00. I though it was money well spent to extend the life of the T-case.
If anyone knows any different part numbers, or has different info. Please post.

Our country was NOT founded by sheep that found a hole in the fence and slipped away.
It was founded by bull headed believers of independence that didn't look for a hole in the fence, didn't cut a hole in the fence, but tore down the WHOLE DAMN fence.

If you can't fix it with a hammer...you have an electrical problem!!!
