Dodge front bumper, 94-01

Postby Zach571 on Sun Mar 07, 2010 9:39 pm

I am helping a friend build a bumper for his Dodge, so I was over there today giving him a hand. I know, it should be straighter but card board is SO unforgiving

I already made the mounts that are bolted to frame, 3"x.75" flat bar, will be rounded and have a hole for a d-ring. We bolted them on and fabbed the rest with cardboard to get a better idea of how it will look. I measured that all up and drew it in CAD on the spot, still have some finer details to finish on the drawing, then flatten it all out and get it cut on the laser  Gonna have the ram's head cut out on both sides of the license plate.

Looks like a helluva start! Does he plan on wheeling this rig? -(looks a little low hanging i.e. approach angle...) How thick of metal are you planning on using?

Nice cardboard fab skills! but, the color's a little off.... lol

Not a wheeler, will be made out of 1/8". We will be adding some gussets inside but for the most part 1/8" is pretty sturdy. I think it hangs as low as stock, if not a little less. There is a lil more cardboard on the bottom that what the actual bottom will be. Certainly doesn't stick out as far as the stocker.

Any plans on intregrating pockets for lights or steps?

will be cut out on each side of the license plate, without the DODGE wording though. May come up with more "frills" but nothing else planned as of yet.

The whole right side is incorrect, left side is as it will be when its done. Very subtle difference between them, but the angles on the right, DO NOT WORK. Gonna slide it up on the truck Sat. as it is now to make sure it fits before going any farther. That's correct, built it this far without the truck

He was thinking black before, but now seeing it on the truck it will be red. Going to have tube as well for a grill guard. Need to finish the other side, final fit it on the frame horns, then those can be finished up for the d-rings. Then make gussets for the inside and final burn it together.
