GM Brake Hoses

Postby magik235 on Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:46 pm

I have 6 inches of lift on my 1987 Jimmy. Does anyone know what rear and front brake hoses can be used to compensate for the increased height?

I do! Give me a bit, I can track down the numbers that get you the added length for dirt cheap! BRB!!!

I did the same thing with my '78. I put a 6" lift on there (but then swapped it to my wife's truck in lieu of a dirt cheap 8" lift!) Anyways... If you take the brake hoses made for a 94 K3500 Dually, you will have the extra hose length you will need for a fraction of the price of buying those lift kit hoses.

My stock front hoses were roughly 19" , but the new ones were 25 3/4".
Napa part numbers:
Left front: UP38622 ~$23.99
Right front: UP38623 ~$23.99
Rear: UP38823 ~$21.49
Direct bolt on!
Also, if you take the hose and attach it to the hole in the bottom of your frame rails vs. the side of the frame (in the front) you can gain a little extra length for free. I think I also have some of those little tabs they send with the lift kits to "lower" your stock hose mounts. Their brake hose relocation brackets are just little metal tabs with the appropriate size holes drilled in each end. Thin little metal, easily made by someone handy...

I would recommend upgrading to SS lines, its an easier upgrade to swallow when the lines actually need to be replaced. Should be able to get all 3 for around $100. I set up mine from a local race car shop, they had those lil tabs as well

I sure hope you are right. I ordered one today but it won't be in until Monday.

Well, if I'm wrong, then I don't know how my truck stops! I looked the numbers up on the napa site before i hit submit as it was about a year ago when i bought the exact lines.
