belly height

Come here to discuss lifts, suspension, wheels, tires, etc.

belly height

Postby oxman on Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:56 am

So i am working on my s-10 project( build thread to come when i find all the pics), and setting up the fron suspension i can to a problem. with it half put together i have a belly height of about 27" in the center of the frame, not including any drop cross member that will be needed for the tranny. If i finish the front end like planned i am guessing the truck will grow another 6-8" taller which i really dont want. i am planing to use a 38" tire (actual measurement)

but i am curious what eveyone else has for a belly height ( center of the frame please), and what size tires you run, how much lift what kind of truck and etc... i think if i went too much taller the truck would be unstable, even though i am putting full size axles under it.

My stock S10 ZR2 is 14 1/2 inches to the bottom of the frame in the center. My 1987 Jimmy with a 6 inch lift and 35s is 24 inches to the bottom of the frame in the center.

well i put 63" long spring from a 88+ chevy 1/2 ton pick up. I am doing a solid axle swap, and had the idea to use the original s10 rear springs in the front. So i think i am going to link it with coil springs. i got a set of i think 6" lift coils from a XJ with the top buckets so all i need is the link material, lower mounts, and joints

I think I like the link idea better, especially for it being strictly rocks and hills (since the ox is a mud truck now). Cowboy is thinking about linking the truggy  I don't think that man needs any more help breaking things but you should hear his idea of his link system!!
